GeForce NOW News: 700+ Games in the Steam Summer Sales, 11 Games This Week & 25 Coming in July.

Welcome to GFN Thursday. This week we have hundreds of games discounted in the Steam Summer Sales you can play on GeForce NOW, 11 games are being onboarded this week and 25 more games have been announced for July, which should bring the grand total to a whopping 36 games for the month.

Steam Summer Sales on GeForce NOW

Only one place to start this week and that's the Steam Summer Sales. Over 700 games are on sale right now that you can play on GeForce NOW. Some of the discounts on the games are crazy low right now and there is definitely some bargains to be picked up. So much so I created my top ten games for under ten pounds that you can read here. As you will see from the video below, there is a section on your GFN homepage with all the games there, so head on in and pick yourself out a wee treat.

GFN Thursday Games

Let's take a look at the games coming this week. 11 in total, some are free to play, some are in early access and at least 1 is absolutely bonkers looking and is calling out for me to pick up.

We'll kick off with the only game coming from the Epic Games Store this week, The Spectrum Retreat. This is a challenging, first-person puzzle game set in the near future. Your desire to unearth the truth is obstructed by an array of colour-coded puzzles, mind-bending physics challenges and the growing fear of exposing your true intentions. Did I mention this is free? Go pick it from the Epic Games Store today.

Eternal Return - Black survival is a free to play, early access, multi online battle arena, battle royale, survival game available from Steam. You can search for materials, craft equipment or food, hunt wild animals, set traps, track your enemies, shoot your enemies from afar or get up in their face. You can even teleport across the map with the hyperloop once you nail the basics. Solo or team play is supported as is custom games for you and your friends.

In Castle Flipper you have the unique opportunity to become a medieval builder. Build your own kingdom and customize it to your liking. You start on your own inherited piece of land. Work as a craftsman to clean, repair, build and decorate medieval, renaissance and baroque buildings and castles. This game is available on GFN via Steam for around £10.

A new EDF adventure begins. Only this time, the action unfolds in a parallel world where the Earth is made of digital blocks. This world has befallen into chaos, as the once peaceful square Earth has been shattered into pieces. Shape aside, it is an Earth nonetheless which needs to be defended. It is now up to the EDF to restore peace to the square planet. Earth Defence Force: World Brothers is available from Steam right now for around £50.

Freely explore an open world environment which recreates the stunning landscapes of northern Norway. Look for the best fishing zones with the help of your sonar, radar and GPS to catch yourself the biggest profit in, Fishing: The Barents Sea. Available from Steam for under £10.

"At least 1 is absolutely bonkers" I said previously and here it is. In an alternative Britain where Brexit talks have collapsed, an extreme far-right government has taken power. Citizens of European heritage have been rounded up and exiled. Forced out of your previous life, you find yourself in the midst of a booming gig economy, fighting to scrape by and return to the city you call home. Not Tonight is a post-Brexit management game, fusing a time-pressure RPG with a politically charged story where every decision matters. I'm really gonna have to pick this up from Steam, it's under £10 and so out there it may well be a really fun game to play.

Opus Magnum is the latest open-ended puzzle game from Zachtronics. Design and build machines that assemble potions, poisons, and more using the alchemical engineer’s most advanced tool: the transmutation engine! The trailer for this game gave me a sore head just watching but another game you can pick up for less than £10 on Steam.

Slipways takes the space grand strategy genre and condenses the best parts of it down by throwing away all the micromanagement and the steep learning curve. The result is a unique blend of the strategy and puzzle genres in which you can finish a run quickly, but still have a deep experience full of tough decisions. Available on Steam for around £15.

SoulWorker is a free to play anime, action RPG available from Steam. The devastated scene of a post-apocalyptic world following an unidentifiable catastrophe welcomes you to be their hero. Intense emotions fuel SoulWorker Energy to help humans rise up from the darkness. Really like the look of this personally.

Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom is an history-driven turn-based strategy set in WW2. Take command of the Allied forces and protect your homeland and the whole of Europe from totalitarian madness. Form armies, win battles, change history and pick it up on Steam for £20.

The final game this week is Ziggurat 2 and they say it's even better than the first. Use powerful weapons and spells to break through hordes of enemies and explore labyrinthine dungeons in this hectic rogue-lite FPS, while you improve your skills and discover new equipment. Available on Steam right now in early access for around £15.

Games That Never Made It

Unfortunately 3 games never made it last month; Sword and Fairy 3, Sword and Fairy Ex and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent. This was due to technical issues and therefor these games will not be coming to GeForce NOW. What those technical issues are remain a mystery.

Even so, a total of 47 games were onboarded last month which brings GFN's total number of games to around 995. Which, I was surprised about, as I honestly thought there were more than that available already.
